Snapchat automatically deletes Snaps and Chats based on how they’re sent. Snaps opened by the recipient are deleted from the chat after they’ve been viewed, while unopened Snaps are deleted after 30 days. Chats are deleted by default once both users have viewed them, but you can also set messages to delete after 24 hours. However, screenshots or saved messages won’t be deleted automatically, and Snapchat may retain some data for legal or safety reasons.
