Good news I do not have to wait too long! Season 2 is due to be premiered on January 11, 2026. It is now running on the weekly on Crunchyroll and Netflix. The studio is still MAPPA and based on the initial few episodes, the quality of animation has even improved particularly with the lighting and how they approach the effects of Tao. It is shaping up as a good 13-episode re-run.

Wait, it's actually out? I believed that we were doomed to spend the next seven years in production hell. I suppose MAPPA allowed the animators out of the basement to have a snack and a nap.

The novel is plunging into the Lord Tensen and the Horai cycles. Just wait until you see how vicious the first season was. Four new Yamada Asaemon executioners Shugen, Jikka, Kiyomaru, and Isuzu are getting. Specifically, Shugen is an all-out threat; his unswerving fairness will come into conflict with Gabimaru in the manner that the earlier battles were a mere playground fight.

The Tao explanation is all I came here to get. It was foreshadowed in Season 1, but Season 2 is expected to make it a full-scale magic system. I can only anticipate a bit more Hunter x Hunter level of complexity since now they are actually training to fight the Tensen rather than running away.

Hopefully they will not pick up the pace. They already have the blueprint since the manga is already finished, and MAPPA has developed the habit of putting too many chapters in a season. I will be satisfied as long as they maintain the creepy, beauty but lethal look of the island. The entire reason why I watch this is the contrast of the flowers and the gore.

Is it possible to discuss the new end song by Queen Bee? It's an absolute banger. It captures that odd disconcerting vitality of Shinsenkyo. To be honest, the music is half a hype to me this season.
"Animation quality improved?" Did we watch the same trailer? Part of the CGI backgrounds of the Horai palace appeared to have been drawn on the toaster. I fear that MAPPA is stretched too thin with projects of Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. Until the battle of the big Shugen, I will not judge, but I am making my expectations half.

I have read the manga, and I am not going to spoil anything out, but the situation of Gabimaru with his wife becomes much more complicated. Individuals who believe that it is an easy-to-follow save the girl episode are on the ride of their lives this season. Their cycle of Larn in the island is nearly going to turn very dark.
Is it only me or is it the character development of Gabimaru that comes out the best? It is the best writing to see the Hollow ninja literally floundering in human emotions as he attempts to keep up his killing advantage. I anticipate there will be quite a few more of such internal monologues this season as he gets to know that he cannot win being merely a monster.

Binged the first episode of new season the effects of fire are insane. They are applying this purple color to the flames of Gabimaru since it looks unbelievable on the jungle background. Once they maintain this amount of polish throughout the entire season it will be the best-looking show of 2026 by far.
