Why taskbar won't hide and how to fix it?

The taskbar won’t hide if a program or notification is keeping it active. To fix it, check for open apps or system notifications, enable “Automatically hide the taskbar” in Settings → Personalization → Taskbar, and restart Windows Explorer if needed.

The taskbar may not hide due to active apps, notifications, or glitches in Windows. Restart File Explorer, turn auto-hide off and on, and check for apps needing attention. Disable notifications or system tray icons causing it. Update Windows and run a quick restart. If it persists, check taskbar settings or perform a system troubleshoot.

The taskbar won’t hide issue usually occurs due to enabled “lock taskbar,” notification alerts, or background apps keeping it active. Disable “lock taskbar,” restart Windows Explorer, and check notification settings. Also ensure no apps are demanding attention, as they can prevent auto-hide from working properly in Windows.
