AMD laptop keyboard backlight not working

My Lenovo LOQ Gaming Laptop AMD Ryzen 5 7235HS keyboard backlight suddenly stopped working (Fn keys don’t do anything). I tried driver updates and restarting but no luck. Anyone had the same issue and fixed it without a service visit? Tell me your model and exact steps that brought the backlight back bios tweak, driver, or a key combo?

For me, it wasn’t the drivers it was actually disabled in the BIOS after a recent update. Go into BIOS → Config → Keyboard/LED settings and make sure the backlight is enabled. After that, a full shutdown (not restart) and power on brought it back. Worked instantly.

LOL, I thought my keyboard had finally given up on me… pressed every Fn combo imaginable. Turns out mine started working again after I unplugged the laptop, waited 10 seconds, and plugged it back in. Sometimes these laptops just want attention, I swear. 😅

Honestly, I don’t think driver updates help much. Lenovo’s support forum is full of people wasting hours on that. The Fn keys are usually tied to the Lenovo Vantage software, so make sure that app is installed and updated. BIOS tweaks are optional but usually safer. People blaming “driver updates” alone are just guessing.

Mine stopped working after Windows 11 update. Here’s what fixed it:
  1. Open Lenovo Vantage → Device → Input → Keyboard Backlight → Enable
  2. Reboot the laptop
  3. If still off, press Fn + Space (the backlight toggle) a couple of times.
It took me 15 mins, but now it’s back to normal. Make sure you try the Vantage route first it’s saved me a lot of headaches.

Ugh, I hate these “it just stopped working” problems. Mine started again when I accidentally spilled coffee near the keyboard (don’t ask). Maybe you just need to bribe your laptop? 😂
But seriously, check BIOS + Vantage + Fn combo. One of those always works.
