Can you replace the modem in a GL.iNet router?

I’m using a GL.iNet router and wondering if it’s possible to replace or upgrade its modem. I’m not very familiar with networking hardware. Can someone explain if this is doable and how?

Yes, but it is a matter of the model. Most GL.iNet routers come with built-in (non-removable) modems, and, thus, cannot be changed. Nonetheless, external USB modems can be used in some models, or there can be modular slots (such as mini PCIe), which can be upgraded. Never make any hardware modifications without checking the specifications of your router.

If you need a different connection type, you usually replace or upgrade the external modem, not the router itself, to improve internet compatibility and performance.
