You can check Device Manager in Windows under “Universal Serial Bus controllers.” It won’t label them as physical ports, but it gives a rough idea of how many USB controllers and hubs your motherboard supports.
Tools like HWInfo or USBDeview are your best bet. HWInfo often shows motherboard chipset details, USB controllers, and how many ports are available, including internal headers.
I had the same issue when adding RGB controllers. HWInfo plus the motherboard model from System Information helped me look up the exact USB port count online.
The most reliable approach is identifying the motherboard model via software, then checking the official specs. No tool can perfectly map physical ports without manufacturer data.
