How to do a 3 way call on iPhone when already on call?

To start a 3-way call, tap "Add Call" on your screen while already on the line. Dial the second person or choose them from your contacts. Once they answer, tap "Merge Calls" to connect everyone. Your iPhone can host up to five people simultaneously this way.

Yeah, it’s pretty straightforward. While you're on the first call, tap Add Call, dial the second person, wait for them to answer, then tap Merge Calls. That’s it. Works on most modern iPhones as long as your carrier supports conference calling. I’ve done it plenty of times for work.

The process you described is correct. However, the ability to host up to five participants depends on your carrier’s conference call limit, not just the iPhone. Some carriers only allow three-way calling (you + two others). So if it doesn’t let you add more, check with your provider.

Ah yes, the classic “wait, don’t hang up, let me add them” panic moment 😂
Just tap Add Call, call the second person, and smash that Merge button like you’re saving the world. Works every time… unless your carrier decides today is not the day.

I was confused about this too at first. The key thing is you won’t see “Merge Calls” until the second person actually answers. I kept wondering why the button wasn’t there. Once they pick up, it appears.

Make sure you don’t accidentally press “End” instead of “Merge.” I’ve done that during an important call and had to awkwardly call everyone back. Also, signal strength mattersif one call drops, the merge can fail.
