Is red dead redemption 2 crossplay available between consoles and PC?

My friend has RDR2 on PS5 and I’m on PC we want to play Red Dead Online together. I keep seeing mixed info: some posts say Rockstar supports crossplay, others say only cross-progression or none at all. Specifically, is is red dead redemption 2 crossplay true for online modes, does cross-save exist, and are there any official workarounds? If it’s not supported, are there safe alternatives to play together (same account family, invite methods, or platform-specific restrictions to be aware of)?

Nope, RDR2 still doesn’t have crossplay between PC and consoles. Rockstar never added it, and at this point they probably never will.
Your PS5 friend and your PC account are on totally separate servers, so you can’t join the same lobby.
Also no cross-save you can’t move your character from PS to PC or vice-versa.
If you want to play together, both of you need to be on the same platform, that’s the only real option.

Bro trust me, I went through the same pain. My cousin plays on PS5 and I’m on PC… tried everything linking Rockstar account, same WiFi, same region nothing works.
RDO is basically locked per platform.
Rockstar didn’t even pretend to add crossplay, they just abandoned the whole thing.
If you wanna play together, someone has to rebuy the game. Sad life.

Imagine Rockstar in 2025:
“Crossplay? Cross-save? Haha no, but here’s another month of zero updates. Enjoy the tumbleweed!”

But yeah, jokes aside, it’s not supported at all. PC folks and console folks live in different universes. If your friend can get it cheap on Steam sale, that’s the only workaround.

It’s because of PC cheaters lol. That’s why they don’t allow crossplay. PS5 would get ruined in 2 days.

That’s not true dude, Rockstar just doesn’t care enough. GTA Online doesn’t have crossplay either and that’s on all platforms. It’s a company choice, not a ‘PC boogeyman’ thing.

Sadly, no crossplay at all. The game only supports cross-generation: PS4 ↔ PS5 and Xbox One ↔ Series.
No PC ↔ console, and no cross-save. Your progress stays stuck to whatever device you created it on.
There are also no “safe” unofficial tricks. Any tool or method claiming to connect PC and console players will either be fake or break Rockstar’s ToS.
Best option if you two really want to play together: someone grabs the game on the other platform. That’s what most of us ended up doing.
