What’s the correct way to figure out how to add a promotion on linkedin without messing up my profile?

I recently got promoted at work and I’m confused about how to add a promotion on linkedin properly. Should I edit my existing role or create a new position entry? When I searched for how to add a promotion on linkedin, I found mixed advice and I don’t want my profile to look messy. Can someone guide me with the right steps?

It's all about the database ID. As long as you select the company from the official dropdown menu, the API recognizes it's a promotion within the same parent entity.
