Horizontal flickering lines on my laptop screen - Is the LCD dying?

So, I woke up today, opened my Dell XPS, and suddenly there are these thin, flickering laptop lcd lines running across the bottom third of the screen. They seem to change color depending on what background I have open (mostly white or green).

I’ve already tried:
  1. Restarting (obviously).
  2. Updating the Intel UHD graphics drivers.
  3. Checking if the lines appear in the BIOS (They DO appear there too).
Does this mean it’s definitely a hardware issue? I’m really hoping it’s just a loose ribbon cable and not a full panel replacement because this thing is just out of warranty. If I squeeze the bezel slightly, the lines flicker more. Has anyone had luck fixing this without sending it to a repair shop?

flickering lines could be due to a recent 2026 issue with display drivers, have you tried adjusting the lcd timing settings in your bios or updating to the latest display drivers

consider checking the lcd panel's backlight, as a recent 2026 trend shows that backlight issues can also cause flickering lines, particularly if the bezel squeeze affects the display.

check the lcd's inverter or backlight circuit, a loose connection there could cause the flickering lines, especially if squeezing the bezel affects the display.

consider checking the lcd panel's timing controller, as recent 2026 issues with display drivers often involve faulty timing controllers causing flickering lines on laptop screens.

check the lcd's display signal timing, as some recent 2026 issues with laptop screens have been linked to incorrect signal timing settings, which could cause the flickering lines to appear.

reseat the lcd cable and check its connection to the motherboard, a recent issue with display drivers in 2026 has also been linked to faulty timing controllers causing flickering lines.
