How to wash a mouse pad?

I’m not sure how to wash a mouse pad without damaging it. Should I hand wash it, or is it safe when learning how to wash a mouse pad in a machine? I’d appreciate advice on the safest way for how to wash a mouse pad properly.
 
I’ve put my SteelSeries in the washing machine on a cold cycle plenty of times and it comes out fine. Just don't put it in the dryer unless you want to melt the rubber backing and ruin your life.

I usually hand wash mine with a little mild soap and warm water, it’s the safest way and keeps the edges from fraying. If you do use a machine, go gentle cycle and air dry it, I ruined one once by tossing it in the dryer
