That's usually a scroll direction setting that got flipped somehow, check your mouse settings in Control Panel or System Preferences and look for natural scrolling being turned on, toggling that off usually fixes it right away.
Opposite scrolling occurs as a result of dirt in the scroll wheel, driver or software problems, low power level, wireless connectivity issues, and/or damaged parts.
